Fig. 132 A curved strip of cork for the track base is cut out from 1.5mm (1⁄16 in) thickness cork sheet and is glued with pva adhesive to the foam baseboard of the layout where the hill tunnels will be located. Card can also be used as an alternative to cork.

Fig. 133 The twin curved tracks that run under the tunnels are contact-glued to the cork track base and the distance between the two tracks checked with a way gauge or with coaches placed on the track to check clearance.
